Reims 2002
The first international meeting on "Clays in natural and engineered barriers for radioactive waste confinement", organised by the French national radioactive waste management agency (Andra), took place in Reims (France) from 9 to 12 December 2002.
The meeting grouped 450 delegates, representing many universities and research institutes around the world (from 21 different countries), together with representative of various national radioactive waste management organisations.

Proceedings
A total of 62 papers have been published in three different books:
- 10 papers in a dedicated Andra technical report (Science and technology Series n° 235 / 2003)
- 10 papers in the Elsevier Ed. scientific journal "Physics and Chemistry of the Earth" (Volume 29, issue 1, 2004)
- 42 papers in the Elsevier Ed. scientific journal "Applied Clay Sciences" (Volume 26, issues 1-4, August 2004).
