Lille 2007

This third international meeting (Lille / 17th – 20th September 2007), assembled around 450 delegates from more than 20 different countries, representing many Research Institutes and Universities around the world, together with representative of various National Radioactive Waste Management Organisations. A wide range of scientific subjects, dealing with most of the disciplines concerned by the "Clay Science" applied to waste isolation, was covered through 19 oral sessions and 7 posters sessions (85 talks and the 212 posters).

Proceedings

From these presentations, 12 manuscripts - particularly related to nuclear waste management strategies, description of site characterisation programmes, description of multidisciplinary underground experiments, integrated approaches, performance & safety analyses ; have been published in a Andra special issue of the "Sciences & technology Series (n°334)"

 

In parallel, 62 papers – selected for their particular scientific and fundamental research aspects (Geological and Hydrological characterisation, Transport processes and parameters, RNs transport and retention, Gas transport in clay rock and bentonite, Alteration processes, Cement/clay interaction & Alkaline perturbation, Processes linked to the Excavation Damaged & disturbed Zones, THM processes in natural clay formations and, THM in the Engineered Barrier System), have been published into a special issue of the Elsevier Scientific journal "Physics and Chemistry of the Earth" (Volume 33, supp.1)
